How No-code Payments Integration® Saved Bridgeport Veterinary Hospital Time and Money

How No-code Payments Integration® Saved Bridgeport Veterinary Hospital Time and Money

Bridgeport Veterinary Hospital opened its doors in the Greater Philadelphia area in 2018. The full-service animal hospital offers wellness and physical exams, surgery, dental care, behavioral counseling, and boarding. Dr. Craig McLahan and his 20-member team follow a philosophy of pet and people-centered care, and everyone at the clinic takes that philosophy to heart. The more time staff can spend caring for patients, the better the experience.

Bridgeport runs its business using Covetrus Pulse*, a cloud-based practice management system (PMS) that the staff uses to schedule appointments, create invoices, take payments, generate sales reports, and send client emails.

In the summer of 2023, Allison Cawley, the Office Manager at Bridgeport, spoke with PayJunction to explore switching payment providers to lower credit card processing rates. She learned that in addition to saving money, PayJunction could quickly integrate payment features into Bridgeport’s PMS using its user-friendly browser plug-in to streamline payment acceptance and workflows.

A Payments Wellness Examination

Since reducing the cost of payment acceptance was Bridgeport’s primary goal, PayJunction’s experts started by analyzing merchant statements from their previous provider. They discovered unnecessary fees, such as those labeled “Risk Fees” and “PCI Compliance Fees.” Bridgeport’s management team was happy to learn that the practice would eliminate incurring those fees under PayJunction’s transparent and ethical pricing model.

Next, PayJunction’s payment consultants inquired about how Bridgeport staff accepts payments. They learned that Bridgeport’s staff takes deposits over the phone and requires full payment for services immediately following an office appointment.

Bridgeport also securely stores customers’ cards for future charges or refunds. The team demonstrated how PayJunction’s No-code Payments Integration could work alongside the Covetrus software, sharing necessary information. The simple browser extension would allow vet techs and client service reps to create an invoice in Covetrus and check out on a PayJunction Smart Terminal without switching tabs or double-keying information. Alternatively, staff can take phone deposits by entering payment details into a secure form or selecting the client’s stored credit card. Upon approval, transaction information would automatically flow through to billing systems and customer records.

Tails are Wagging at Bridgeport

Switching to PayJunction, integrating payments, and training staff was quick and easy. The system is so intuitive that it requires virtually no learning curve. Staff raved that our browser plug-in is more user-friendly than the previous system.

PayJunction makes it easy to check out clients because the systems are integrated and talk to each other. We don’t have to enter anything manually.

Other features have improved the veterinary experience, especially on the sad days when a human must say goodbye to a pet. Vet techs use PayJunction’s Portable Terminal to take payments in exam rooms, allowing grieving clients to bypass a stop at reception on their way out.

The Bridgeport team has more time to focus on patients and clients. Reconciling batches and running reports went from hours per week to mere minutes thanks to PayJunction’s streamlined integration and user-friendly automation tools. Best of all, Bridgeport has saved money and improved operations thanks to PayJunction’s fair pricing and superior customer support.
